Our Mission

My goal is to provide you with the most life-like realism possible.  To do so, I use the very best materials available, amass a stockpile of close up reference photos, and do all of the work myself.

Company Profile

What is good taxidermy?  Some would say that if the customer is happy, then the taxidermy is good.  I think that there is more to this, though.  Are the eyes set correctly or does the deer look like it is bug-eyed?  Is the mouth correct, or does the deer look like it is grinning at you?  Is the neck just a tubular shape or can you see the shoulders?  On a bird, is there any muscle definition in the back or does your flying bird look flat on the wall?  Many think, "I know what a deer looks like, I've been hunting all my life."  Before taxidermy school, I would have said the same thing.  But have you ever looked at the eyes of a deer, up close?  What direction do the eyelashes face and what is the shape of the pupil?  What is the nictating membrane and where is it?  What shape is the ear butt, or even the ears for that matter?  These are all irrelevant for hunting a deer, but if you want that deer to come back to life on your wall, then someone better know.

I have an extensive collection of close-up photos of wildlife and every time that I put an animal together, I reference them to ensure that my work meets my high standards.  While there are many good taxidermists in the area, there are still some who will cut corners and, "Give you what you paid for."  While their quality mounts go for one price, yours could be their "bargain" price.  There are many ways to cut corners and you will never know until one or two years down the road when your mount is eaten by  bugs or it just starts falling apart.  I do not cut  any of these corners.  I do all of the work myself.  I do not pay an apprentice or subcontract any of my work to some other entity.  I use only the very best products in the industry and I use them on every mount that comes out of my shop.  I am a certified taxidermist, a hunter and a fisherman.

I taught myself  how to do taxidermy on birds, mostly ducks, many years ago.  I then decided to learn and develop other skills by attending the Central Texas School of Taxidermy.  I have many customers tell me that my mounts look better than anything previously on their walls.

So then, the eternal question, "How much?"  While taxidermy is not cheep, it is also not as expensive as you think.  When I was a kid in west Texas, Odessa, my family hunted on nine (yes, 9) sections of land outside of Notrees, Texas.  No that was not misspelled, look it up on a map if you need to.  We hunted Blues (Scaled Quail), Bobs, doves, rabbits, javelina, ducks, coyotes, bobcats, ...   I used to know that land like the back of my hand.  It was only 45 minutes from our house to the Waddell Ranch and we hunted sometimes 5+ days out of the week.  We ate quail as much as most people eat chicken.  Yes we hunted with dogs, English, American Red and oh yes, LLewellin Setters.  But, I am digressing.  You name it, we hunted it,  and we only paid, get this, $25 a gun for a year round lease.  That is the absolute truth.  At the same time, my dad had a Bluewing Teal mounted by a local taxidermist and paid $80 for this.

Today, you could not hunt that much land for under $1000.  The price of the guns that we use have also sky rocketed.  You will be hard pressed to find an over/under shotgun of any quality under $1000.  But, you can still get a beautiful duck put on your wall for under $300.  Everything has gone up in price in the hunting industry and we willingly pay this as we love our sport.  But, in no single aspect of hunting has the quality improved greater than in taxidermy.  And, in no aspect of hunting has the price increased the least.  So, to accept poor taxidermy work just to get a low ball price, is neither necessary nor acceptable.  We all know people who don't hunt, I am not going down that trail, but when they come over to your house or office for some company get together, what do you want on your wall?  Does your whitetail say that I hunt and I am proud of it?  Or is it one of those mounts that make those anti-hunters go, "What is that?"    I am not the cheapest and never will be, but I am also not the most expensive.  I  believe that my product speaks for itself and that I offer a very fair price for what you get.  I put all of my energy into EVERY mount that comes out of my shop.  I promise you that.
